What a private swimming coach in Sentosa actually does
A private lesson is not a group lesson with fewer people. The coach assesses the swimmer at the first session, sets a short-term goal, for example floating on the back unaided within three lessons, and structures every minute around it.
Drills are demonstrated, corrected and repeated. Because there is no queue, a child might practise a push-off and glide twenty times in a lesson rather than twice. That repetition is why private students typically reach independent swimming in months rather than years.
Between lessons, the coach gives parents one or two things to practise, which is realistic when the pool is downstairs. Progress is reviewed each week, and the plan adjusts to the swimmer rather than a fixed syllabus.
For adults, the same approach applies to different goals: calm in deep water, a freestyle that lasts more than one length, or a breaststroke that does not hurt the knees.
Private lessons at your Sentosa Cove pool
Most private lessons take place at condominium pools on Ocean Drive, Cove Drive and Cove Way, and at private pools in the landed enclaves. The coach is registered as your guest and follows the estate's pool rules. Lessons depend on your resident access and the condominium's policy on instructors, which we help you check.
Read the Sentosa Cove overview for how access and weather work across the enclave.

Do you provide private swimming lessons?
Yes. 1-to-1 lessons are our most requested format in Sentosa. We also teach pairs, small groups of three to four, and family sessions where siblings or parents learn together. Read more on our private swimming lessons page.
How many students are in a class?
One, two, three or four. We do not run large groups at residential pools. Most Sentosa families choose 1-to-1 or a pair of siblings; small groups of three or four work well for children of similar age and ability.
Can siblings learn together?
Often, yes. Siblings of similar ability can share a lesson, which is usually more economical than two separate slots. If their ages or levels are far apart, a coach may suggest splitting the time so each child gets suitable practice.
Can the swimming coach come to my condo?
That is how most of our Sentosa lessons work. The coach comes to your condominium pool at the agreed time. You register the coach as your guest according to your condominium's visitor procedure, and the lesson takes place at the pool you already use.
Is 1-to-1 always better than a pair or small group?
Not always. Nervous beginners, adults and special-needs swimmers progress fastest 1-to-1. Confident children often enjoy a pair or small group more and stay motivated longer. The coach will tell you honestly if a format is holding a swimmer back.
Can we switch from group to private later?
Yes. Formats can change as needs change, for example moving a child to 1-to-1 for a few weeks to fix a stroke problem and then back to a pair.
Do private lessons in Sentosa include the coach's travel?
Yes. The quoted rate covers the coach travelling to your pool in Sentosa or Sentosa Cove. There is no separate travel charge.
Can we book a single lesson to try first?
Yes. Many families start with a single lesson to meet the coach and see how the child responds before committing to a regular slot. Tell us you would like a trial when you enquire.
